My New Storage Case.

I got a new case for all my sewing tools. Everything fits just perfect. I picked it up at the paper-source. I am so excited ... I love love love it.

The Last Minute.

My niece is turning seven. She is having her party on Sunday ... and I waited until this morning to iron, cut, sew up and stuff this kitty. I have an issue with waiting until the last minute ... but only when it comes to sewing. I think in part it is because I sew well under pressure. I get things done faster than I normally do and the quality is still the same. Hopefully I will get the hand sewing on kitty done in time.

New Item. Sneak Peek.

A new tote ... coming to (nyk-lectic) soon. With a matching zippered pouch. For me it is a book bag and a pencil case. For you it could be ... a picnic lunch bag with a utensil case ... an overnight bag with a toothbrush case ... or a baby bag with a case for their little things ... the possibilities are endless. A few different sets should be at the shop next week.

Children Need Shoes.

For every pair purchased, TOMS will give a pair to a child without shoes.







So far ... 10,000 pairs of shoes were given to children in Argentina and 40,000 pairs of shoes were given to children in Africa ... another Shoe Drop will take place in the United States this summer.

New Year. New Ventures.

A clean slate. I love the idea of a fresh new start. And I have got much in the works for the year to come. I have been immersed in my sketchbook and at the sewing machine testing my patterns.

Two Artists in our Home.

When you get two artists living together ... EVERYTHiNG ... becomes art. That being said. For Christmas every year we do a color theme. This year we choose black and white. And the labels went on the back ... to stick with the color theme. A few years ago we decided on a tinsel tree ... in our efforts to go green.

We have already decided the colors for next year ... but you'll have to wait and see. Happy Holidays.

Cozy New Mittens.

I have been so cold ... so I made myself some mittens. I used a lightweight flannel so I can still use my hands when they are on. And again ... I have to toot my horn a little ... because I made these from my Japanese sewing book. I had to make three mittens until I finally figured it out. Next time I will show a photo of the pattern. Stay Warm.

Lemondrops and Bluebirds.

I got this new journal from my mom ... and I love it. It is refreshing to write in something so artsy. And all the little details are mesmerizing. The artist is the talented Grady McFerrin. And you can pick one up for yourself here.

The Get Along Gang.

Do you remember The Get Along Gang? Most likely ... you don't. It was one of my favorite cartoons. On the television from 1984 to 1986. Anyway ... that is what these little plushies remind me of. They are a gift for my nieces. Each of the girls got to pick the fabric for their doll. The pattern came from the inspiring ... Hillary Lang over here at Wee Wonderfuls. And below is a photo of the real Get Along Gang.

One of the BEST men to ever live. My gramps taught me all the GREAT things that I know. And he had more LOVE than one could imagine. Now he is my angel and I know one day he will come for me.

A Purse For Fall.

I made myself a new purse of fall colors. I finally got the new book by Lotta Jansdotter. The book is published in Japan ... so the patterns are written in Japanese. It took a little longer to create this purse. I only had a few pictures to figure it out ... but I did and I am very proud.

The Cards Are In The Mail.

I've ordered cards for (nyk-lectic) and they should be here soon. The stickers are the last thing I need to order ... and then I will launch the start of my collection. There will be a link to my shop on this blog. I will post the grand opening.

My Sewing Nook.

... Okay so actually ... I take up the whole room. But I feel a little more inspired now that I have my little corner ... and I don't have to spend the time setting up.

A Coin for Your Thoughts.

Just a few more checks on my list and I will open My Etsy shop. I am crossing my fingers to have it ready in time for the Holidays. But for now ... here is a peek at one of the items I will be selling.

I Sew for Trade.

I have been wanting to get a bike rack for my car. So that we can take our bikes to other cities to ride. And some friends of ours, just so happen to have and uneeded one ... and they were in need of an apron like mine. So here are their aprons. And we have a bike rack now. Less consumption is always good.

Last Dress till Spring.

I had fun making dresses but now that it is getting colder I am going to try a pair of pants. I have a pattern for skinny cords but I will need my moms help. I added pockets into the sides of this brown dress ... but the pocket is from a childs pattern ... so they are not very deep. I learn as I go.

T-Shirts Re-vamped.

My brother gave me a stack of his old t-shirts. And with some pieces of two of them ... I made this purse. I put it together at midnight because that is when the idea hit me. I was going through the pile of shirts and saw one with switch blades on it and thought ... this would be perfect for the interior of a purse ... a concealed weapon. And voila! This one will not be given away because I am keeping it for me.

Their trash my treasure.

Can you believe this was headed to the dump? My pop found it sitting by the trash at work. There is not a thing wrong with it. It fits my sewing maching and my sewing tin. And best of all ... it was free.
